A while ago, we created a small group in Whats App to host entrepreneurs and investors who have a passion for Africa in order to discuss and address common issues, share ideas and spur each other on. Occasionally, we try to invite external speakers to come to speak to the group.
Last week, we hosted Ham Serunjogi, the Co-founder of Chipper Cash, an intra-Africa money transfer service. Ham is from Uganda and went to school at Aga Khan, Mombasa, Kenya (I am proudly Kenyan 😉). Late last year, Chipper Cash raised a $30 million Series B funding round led by Ribbit Capital with participation from Bezos Expeditions (the personal VC fund of Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos).
Here is the audio recording of parts of the event where we cover the issues surrounding payments in Africa and how Chipper Cash is going about to solve these issues.
